How does a Multiwave Oscillator work?
A Multiwave Oscillator is a machine that generates a broad spectrum of electromagnetic frequencies and radiates it through two antennas. The design goes back to Georges Lakhovsky, who developed it in the 1920s, and to Nikola Tesla's work on coils.
We build and sell these machines, and have had them certified by KIWA. This page sets out how the device works technically. What else is claimed about it online, and why you will not find that here, is explained at the bottom.
The three components
The field is produced by three components tuned to one another.
- The Tesla coil converts mains voltage into high voltage at high frequency. This circuit goes back to Nikola Tesla's work on resonant transformers.
- The spark gap discharges that voltage in very short pulses. A steep pulse contains not a single frequency but an entire spectrum at once — which is where the name multiwave comes from. The spark gap is the wearing part; its maintenance determines the working life of the machine.
- The Lakhovsky antennas consist of concentric rings that are not closed. The gaps in the rings help determine which frequencies are generated and radiated. Two antennas facing each other form the field together.

The combination of very high voltage at very low current is characteristic of this type of machine. The range from 10 Hz to 30 GHz is broader than most equipment covers, and follows directly from the way the spark gap discharges: one steep pulse contains the whole spectrum at once.
A persistent misconception: the blue glow
A blue glow can appear around the antennas of a Multiwave Oscillator. This phenomenon is called corona discharge: the voltage becomes so high that the air around the antenna ionises. It looks impressive, and online it is often presented as evidence that a machine is powerful.
Technically it is the opposite. Corona is a sign that the system is out of balance:
- Energy loss. Voltage leaks into the air instead of contributing to the resonant field.
- Disturbed resonance. Ionisation changes the antenna's capacitance and the field becomes less stable.
- Uncontrolled field lines. Random discharges replace an even distribution.
- Wear. Ozone, heat and oxidation degrade the antennas faster.
The idea that higher voltage automatically makes a better machine is therefore mistaken. What a Multiwave Oscillator does comes from the broad, harmonic frequency spectrum the antennas radiate — not from visible kilovolts. Our machines are tuned for a stable, broad field without unnecessary corona.
Use in the garden: electroculture
Lakhovsky began with plants. His first documented experiments used geraniums, in the garden of a Paris hospital. Electroculture — applying electromagnetic fields in horticulture — has a history of more than a century and has drawn renewed interest in recent years.
For that application we supply copper plant spirals and separate antennas. What happens in your own garden you can observe for yourself. As far as we are concerned, that is the most honest way to form a judgement.
What you will not find here, and why
Lists circulate online that pair hundreds of conditions with specific frequencies. They are copied across dozens of sites, rarely checked, and nobody can explain where the numbers come from. Such a list used to stand on this page. We have removed it.
We do not put anything on our site that we cannot substantiate. Because we went through the certification process, we know fairly precisely what this machine does. That is exactly why we also recognise what is claimed without any basis.
And it is not permitted. The Multiwave Oscillator is certified as a machine. As soon as a seller associates the device with humans or animals, it falls under medical device regulation. We abide by that.
You are not left on your own
A Multiwave Oscillator is not a purchase you make in passing, and we do not treat it as one. Most customers collect the machine from us in person. That is deliberate: when you collect it we take the time to explain how it works, demonstrate it and let you operate it yourself, so that you know exactly what you are doing once you get home. If the machine is delivered, the same happens at your location.
It does not end there. We remain your point of contact, years later as well. Call us if you want to check something, are unsure about maintenance, or simply have a question. That comes with the machine.
