Point ionisation in the Vollara TotalAir equipment ensures that electrical charge is given to particles floating in the air. Where a hoover or air filter lets the smallest dust particles through, the ionisation in the Vollara TotalAir equipment works on all particles present. So even the smallest particles such as mould, bacteria and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as volatile gases from chipboard, paint or cleaning products will cluster and settle.
Negative ions clean the air of very fine dust particles because they cluster with positively charged particles (which are often suspended bacteria, viruses and fungal spores or have bound themselves to them). These are neutralised, or negatively charged, by the negative ions. The clusters get bigger and bigger, until gravity gets hold of them and they sink to the bottom.
RF ionisation is an electromagnetic radiation. In the Vollara equipment, certain radio waves are emitted via an antenna that charges the smallest ions, which then cluster and precipitate. This process goes through doors, walls, floors, etc. This process has a range of approximately 20 metres from your Vollara TotalAir machine. This is a complementary process to the point ionisation and used exclusively with our Vollara equipment.
RCI is a patented process that produces friendly oxidants, consisting only of H and O, in various forms, which are used for air pollution, such as dust mites, bacteria, viruses and moulds. Through a combination of different UV light frequencies (including one of 253.7Nm, which is close to X-rays in the light spectrum) that enter into a process with a mixture of four precious metals (copper, silver, titanium and rhodium), a mixture of oxidants is formed by this catalytic reaction, which consists of gaseous hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), hydrogen radicals (OH), ozone ions (O3-) and super oxides (O2-), among others. This mixture of oxidants is much more effective and much more people-friendly than the exclusive use of ozone. It is a proactive system in which the combustion (oxidation) of the contamination is not only effected from the air, but is also active on the surfaces reached by these oxidants (floors, worktops, door handles, toilet seats, etc.).
Oxidation using O3, ozone, i.e. 3 oxygen atoms. Ozone is a very powerful oxidant but at the same time unstable: it quickly falls back to its original form, oxygen (2 oxygen atoms).
As soon as an ozone molecule comes into contact with something oxidisable, the extra oxygen molecule will go straight to this substance, because the molecule wants to bind itself as quickly as possible, which is called oxidation. Oxidation takes place with all kinds of substances such as odours and VOCs (volatile organic compounds). But in high concentrations also viruses, mould, bacteria and all kinds of micro-organisms. Because the extra oxygen atom binds to the substance to be oxidised, nothing remains of the original ozone molecule except pure oxygen, and it is therefore extremely environmentally friendly. Exposure to too much oxygen can cause irritation to the eyes and respiratory system: the Vollara TotalAir equipment therefore has the option of dosing this extra cleaning in a controlled manner.
Ventilation is used in the Vollara TotalAir equipment by means of an adjustable fan that introduces gaseous plasma (ions and oxidants) into the room, thus tackling the contamination on the spot: in the air as well as on surfaces.
